Class Supply Lists
Parents, as teachers send me their supply lists for classes, I will be posting those here.
General Supply List for High School Classes
Parents, as you make purchases for your child for the beginning of the year, here are the most typical kinds of purchases I would make:
- Looseleaf Notebook Paper
- Composition Books (One Subject)
- Colored Pencils
- Binders and Notebooks (Most often 1 inch or larger)
- Bookbag (Since we are not providing students with lockers)
- Computer (Not required, but student having their own computer or tablet is a plus)
Walker's Math I Classes
- 2 inch 3-ring binder
- 10 dividers for notebook
- looseleaf notebook paper
- graph paper
- several pencils and erasers
- box of colored pencils
- having a personal TI 83 or TI 84 calculator will be helpful for each student.
Discovery High School Announces Summer Reading
School-Wide Reading Assignment (All students Are Asked to Read)
Discovery High School's summer reading title is The†Uglies by Scott Westerfield. Students are asked to read the book and complete the following driving question:
What is the message that your summer reading delivers?
Create a product that demonstrates your knowledge of the book and answers the driving question. You may create anything. You will present your products in Family. Presentations of products should be 3 minutes or less. Be original with your product and design.
Additional Summer Reading Requirements for Upper Classmen
Junior Summer Reading
In addition to The†Uglies, juniors will need to read Gulliver's Travels by Jonanthan Swift. There will be a test during the first week of school in Honors English III.
Senior Summer Reading
In addition to Uglies, seniors will need to read at least one book on the topic of their Senior Project. They also need to establish and confirm two human resources (mentors) for their senior project before the first day of school. Students will be assessed on the knowledge of their book with they return.
Currently there are no summer reading assignments for 9th and 10th grade English.
